Good morning!
It is Holy Week.  We began yesterday with Palm Sunday and it was exciting to enter the sanctuary singing our Processional Hymn and waving our palms.  We also read the Passion story from Mark, chapters 14 and 15.  If you weren't able to be with us, I would suggest reading these 2 chapters, walking with Jesus during his time in Jerusalem, ending with his death on the cross and his burial.  There are times to join with us this week, to honor Jesus on his journey to the cross and beyond.  Maundy Thursday we will not do the traditional foot washing, but will instead have the opportunity for each participant to wash their hands as we remember the cleansing Jesus did for his disciples' feet.  Good Friday service will contain the reading of Jesus' time on the cross and his burial.  Saturday vigil will be a time to remember God's promises that have been kept.  Each of these days, worship will be at the church at 7 pm.  Thursday and Friday will be in the sanctuary and Saturday will be in the Fellowship room.

Easter Sunday will begin with the opening of the box we put under the altar the Sunday before Ash Wednesday.  Then we will open the doors and enter the church as if we were entering the empty tomb, celebrating Jesus resurrection.  Worship services will be at 8 and 10 am, both in the sanctuary.  I am encouraging you to consider the 8 am service, since this is the one that normally has been attended by a small group.  The more that attend this service, the more space will be available at the 10 am service without crowding too much.  There is more good news - we will have communion with the regular bread!  Thank you, Karen Schock!  Easter is the most holy day of the year for Christians.  May this day be holy as you worship the risen Lord Jesus Christ.

Throughout this Holy Week, I hope we can all take time to reflect on the grace of God extended to us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Through this grace, we are forgiven and also given the hope of eternal life giving praise to God.

Zion Lutheran Church has always been an active part of the world community.

From our yearly World Mission Sunday to support of rural ministry,

from Lutheran World Relief to proving a community used furniture room

and supporting the local food bank, Zion is "a church without walls".

Our members recognize the importance of their baptisms and through worship

and regular holy communion, believe God's call to discipleship is a call to faith in action.

We invite you to worship with us.

"All are welcome in this place"
