12:21 PM (3 hours ago)

Good Morning!  I have been thinking about our changing society and ministry a lot lately.  Society is always changing, but it seems as if the changes are increasing in speed, which can leave congregations behind if we are not ready to adapt to our changing world.  This type of adaptation is not in our understanding of God and our need for forgiveness.  It doesn't change our thankfulness for God's grace in our lives.  It simply changes how we relate to our community and how we reach out to those who need to hear the good news of Jesus' death and resurrection and what that means for them personally.  I am going to enroll in a zoom continuing ed class and would like to invite anyone to attend with me.  The title is "Visions of Hope for Vitality and Sustainability in Small Congregations."  The leader of this 5 hour class is Dr. Mark Yackel-Juleen, Director of Small Town and Rural Ministries and Director of the Center for Theology and Land for Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque IA.  The class will be from 10 am - 3 pm on Sept. 15.  There will be a lunch break, so bring a sack lunch.  We are a congregation with vibrant and energetic ministries, with gifts to share with Glendive and beyond.  I am hoping that a class such as this just might help us to figure out how to direct our energy in effective ways so that we are a vital part of what makes Glendive a great place to live.  Let me know if you want to be a part of this class.

Zion Lutheran Church has always been an active part of the world community.

From our yearly World Mission Sunday to support of rural ministry,

from Lutheran World Relief to proving a community used furniture room

and supporting the local food bank, Zion is "a church without walls".

Our members recognize the importance of their baptisms and through worship

and regular holy communion, believe God's call to discipleship is a call to faith in action.

We invite you to worship with us.

"All are welcome in this place"
