Good Morning!  It is going to be so hot today, I may decide to work in my basement this afternoon, because it is actually a cool place.  My office was 84 degrees when I walked in, and my poor air conditioner just can't keep up.  But it is trying, and I am glad for every bit of cool it puts out.  I have decided to start researching the planting of a tree in my yard, so that when it grows large enough, it can shade the south side of the house.  I can't imagine that I will be here long enough for it to help me feel cooler in my house, but the next pastor will get the benefit.  As I think about that, I wonder just what I can do to make this world a better place for the generation after me.  Planting a tree  isn't even a sacrifice, but it will help shade a small area and it will help filter just a bit of carbon dioxide out of the air.  It is a tiny thing that I can do to help care for this wonderful world that God gave us.  What a gift we have!  I give thanks for everyone who does even a little bit to help take care of it.

On Wednesday, I am going to meet with our youth at the group use picnic shelter in Makoshika for Frisbee Golf.  I am thinking that we need a plan B in our back pocket.  If we decide that we would be well-baked by the end of a round of golf, we will instead play Cornhole underneath the shelter.  Then we will at least be in the shade.  Youth entering grades 7-12 are invited and snacks will be included.   We will also spend a few minutes making plans for the fall.

This week at Zion:
Today - 5 pm - Salvation Army and Loaves and Fishes
Wednesday - 8:30 am - Zoom Bible Study - Parables
10 am - Circle of Prayer
6 pm - Youth Folf or Cornhole at the Makoshika Group Use Area
Thursday - 6:30 am - Men's Bible Study at CC's
6 pm - Worship - either in the Prayer Garden or the Fellowship Room
Friday - Zionews Deadline
Saturday - 10 am - 2 pm - Furniture Room
Sunday - 8 am - Worship at Makoshika Amphitheater
    10 am - Worship

If you are looking for a bit of humor, come to the Dawson Days Triathlon finish at Eyer Park Saturday morning.  I should be struggling to cross the finish line at about 10 am, give or take.  Steve Merrill is also on a team and will be celebrating at the finish line.

Zion Lutheran Church has always been an active part of the world community.

From our yearly World Mission Sunday to support of rural ministry,

from Lutheran World Relief to proving a community used furniture room

and supporting the local food bank, Zion is "a church without walls".

Our members recognize the importance of their baptisms and through worship

and regular holy communion, believe God's call to discipleship is a call to faith in action.

We invite you to worship with us.

"All are welcome in this place"
