Good afternoon!
I
As I am planning this week and all that needs to be done to be ready for Advent, I am finding myself excited to be able to look forward with hope as we enter this time of waiting, watching and anticipation.  This coming Sunday is the first Sunday of the new church year, even though 2020 is still going on.  Maybe we can see this as a time to look forward, knowing that in the church year 2020 is already done!  Our plans for Advent and Christmas are becoming settled, and today I am making a video to put on our youth and our church facebook pages.  This video is about making Advent wreaths at home, since so many of us are worshipping from home.  We are in the process of putting together 30 sets of the items needed to make these wreaths, plus the instructions for doing so.  This is intended to be a family project, easy enough to do with children.  I am hoping that each of our families will be able to put an Advent wreath on their table, so that each week, the children can see that 1 more candle has been lit.  I am especially thankful for Michelle Sickler, who has gathered all of the items needed and has done the bulk of the work of putting together each bag.  These white bags will be sitting on the table in the narthex, so if you  stop by the church, you can pick one up for your family.  Included in each bag are the words that we will use at the beginning of each of our next 4 worship services, so that you can say them at home as you light each of the candles.

If you would like an Advent devotional, the pastors of the Montana Synod have worked together to put one together.  The theme is 'Equipping...or the Work of Ministry.'  There will also be copies of this available on the table in the narthex for anyone who wishes to have one.  During this time of anticipation, it is always good to remember that it is Jesus, both as that baby born in Bethlehem, and as our eternal King, that we are looking forward to.

This is the week that we will be completing our newsletter for December.  If you wish to have something included and haven't sent it to the office yet, please do so quickly.

Zion Lutheran Church has always been an active part of the world community.

From our yearly World Mission Sunday to support of rural ministry,

from Lutheran World Relief to proving a community used furniture room

and supporting the local food bank, Zion is "a church without walls".

Our members recognize the importance of their baptisms and through worship

and regular holy communion, believe God's call to discipleship is a call to faith in action.

We invite you to worship with us.

"All are welcome in this place"
