12:21 PM (3 hours ago)

Good afternoon!
I read a prayer this morning that I thought was worth repeating:

"Dear God, Help me to love my neighbor more than I love my Bible, defend the oppressed more than I defend my theological beliefs, and love humanity more than I love my religion."

The meme says it is from some entity called 'On love and Mercy: a Social justice Devotional'

Whoever wrote it, I like it!  I hope we love our Bibles, are firm on our theological beliefs and are glad to be a part of Christianity.  However, those things are springboards for living out our faith by loving our neighbors, defending the oppressed and caring for all of humanity.  Helping to feed our house the homeless doesn't have a denomination or even a favorite Bible verse.  It just has faith.  How will you live out your faith this week?

Zion Lutheran Church has always been an active part of the world community.

From our yearly World Mission Sunday to support of rural ministry,

from Lutheran World Relief to proving a community used furniture room

and supporting the local food bank, Zion is "a church without walls".

Our members recognize the importance of their baptisms and through worship

and regular holy communion, believe God's call to discipleship is a call to faith in action.

We invite you to worship with us.

"All are welcome in this place"
